The recent high school coaching hires at Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community Schools all have one thing in common, they’re interested in building youth programs to help facilitate their athletes’ growth in the sport they’re leading. ADM’s newest girls basketball coach Jacob Cleveland is no different, telling the Raccoon Valley Radio Network in late September that he’d like to set up a program so youth athletes in third through eighth-grades can build continuity with formations and skills taught at high school. “They will know my read and react offense style, my pressing (defense),” Cleveland said, “The lower levels, obviously we won’t go as deep but just to have an understanding of what our program is about and as they continue they’ll develop those skills. So when I get them as freshmen, we’re all on the same page.”

Cleveland’s focus right now is getting the ADM high school students familiar with his offensive and defensive systems. The Tiger girls basketball program is entering day four of preseason practice today. The ADM varsity girls basketball team opens the 2018-19 season on Monday, November 19, hosting the Norwalk Warriors in a nonconference contest. Catch live play by play broadcasts of ADM Tiger basketball all winter long on True Country K 107.9, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KKRF mobile app.
