Media Day was held Monday for the Greene County High School boys’ basketball team. Chris Nelson enters his third season as Greene County boys’ head basketball coach with a mix of experience and inexperience. The Rams were 14-9 two seasons ago and 12-11 last season. It’s been several years since the Rams had three seasons in a row of more wins than losses, but the coach thinks that’s realistic.

Three guards return as letter winners of the 2017-18 team in seniors Trey Hinote and Lance Hughes, plus junior Carter Morton. Junior Tyler Miller is a Paton-Churdan transfer who stands 6′ 9″ and will be eligible Jan. 15 due to the transfer rule.

Coach Nelson talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about not having much height initially, then how opponents will have to adapt to Miller’s size. “It will change a lot. Teams will have to guard us differently once Tyler is eligible to play. We have some guys that can flash in the middle, but no size to speak of without him. We do have shooters, so once Tyler gets on the floor, it will change things.”

The Rams host Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) on Sat., Nov. 17 in a Hall of Pride Scrimmage night with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow. The scrimmages will be played under game like conditions, but will not count as official games.
