One week of preseason girls basketball practice is in the books and new Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers first-year head coach Jacob Cleveland is wanting his players to work on their offensive game. The Tigers averaged just over 41 points per game during a 9-14 finish last winter, failing to reach the 30 point plateau in five of their losses. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network caught up with Cleveland during Friday’s ADM Girls Basketball Media Day and stressed the importance of getting shots up during this period before the first game of the season. “We have to get lots and lots of shots up,” Cleveland said, “I encourage our girls to go out for as many sports as they can, but there’s got to be some type of commitment to get into the gym here and there. One thing I notice is we’re getting the opportunities, we got people that can get to the hole, (and) make good passes, but we got to put the ball in the basket.”

Cleveland opened the gym on Sunday afternoon for a voluntary shooting session and weight training workout. ADM has six players returning who attempted 50 or more shots last season. Only senior Kristen Baier made over 40 percent of her attempts. The ADM Tigers varsity girls basketball team opens the 2018-19 season next Monday, hosting the Norwalk Warriors in a nonconference contest. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will broadcast ADM basketball games all winter long on True Country K 107.9.
