Tornadoes Sweep Through Adair, Guthrie Counties Tuesday

Several confirmed tornadoes swept through southwest Iowa as the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team brought you live coverage of severe weather Tuesday evening.

A tornado warning was issued at 5:15 p.m. in Adair County for a storm capable of producing tornadoes. Weather spotters confirmed a tornado seven miles east of Greenfield moving north at 35 miles per hour at 5:58 p.m.

A second tornado warning was issued at 6:11 p.m. for Eastern Guthrie, Northwestern Dallas, and Northeastern Adair Counties until 7 p.m. as law enforcement confirmed a tornado over Stuart, or 14 miles northeast of Greenfield moving north at 40 miles per hour. Another tornado was spotted over Panora at 6:31 p.m. moving north at 45 miles per hour. At 6:44 p.m. radar indicated rotation was located near Lake Panorama, moving north at 40 miles per hour.

Seven Raccoon Valley Radio staff members, along with Perry Schools Superintendent Clark Wicks and Weather Eye meteorologists provided Severe Weather Action Team coverage. The one to count on for severe weather coverage is the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
