In a time of need, Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community Schools stepped up to save the annual Raccoon River Conference Cross Country Meet. ADM Activities Director Reece Satre shared with Raccoon Valley Radio Wednesday morning that the district will hold the conference’s makeup meet that was washed out Tuesday in Huxley. Satre added a lot of entities came together in the 11th hour to make the Raccoon River Conference cross country meet work. “Pretty coordinated group effort and a lot of collaboration between not just our buildings and grounds staff and cross country staff, and various other support staff at ADM,” Satre said, “Ballard (Community Schools) is going to still (host the meet). They’re going to come down and devote some man hours sometime (today) with the preparation and assistance of actually running (the meet).”

Satre adds the course will start at the entrance of Tiger Drive next to Highway 169 and go through the school’s trail system that goes near the south side of ADM Stadium. The course will wind runners around the Tigers baseball and softball complex and grass practice fields twice. The race will end with one lap on the track at ADM Stadium before finishing on the turf football field. The Ballard Bombers were the 2017 RRC girls league champions while the Carlisle Wildcats claimed the boys’ team title. ADM finished third in both team standings last fall. Only the varsity runners will compete in today’s Raccoon River Conference Cross Country makeup meet. The girls’ field will race at 5 p.m., and the boys will follow at 5:30 p.m.
