Perry School Board 6-11

The Perry School Board will convene Monday afternoon for a special session.

At last week’s regular session, the Board tabled decisions regarding the Industrial Technology and wrestling room facility, as they wanted more time to consider their options. Superintendent Clark Wicks says they found some of the prices presented in the estimate to be a little high, with the entire project currently anticipated to cost nearly $6.7 million. Wicks says the Board also needs to come to decisions regarding initial floor plans, including whether they want it to be two buildings or one.

The special meeting will start with a report from Carl A. Nelson & CO, who will serve as construction managers on the project, working alongside the design firm SVPA Architects. Following that, the Board will consider the ballot language for the bond referendum vote, though they need to know how much in general obligation bonds they’ll need, so they can include that in the language. Finally, they will consider the petition language to get approval for the special election to be held in December.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the high school’s Brady Library.
