Depth was a concern coming into the Perry season this year and the Bluejays are testing that theme over the past couple of weeks. With running back Justin Stammer, offensive lineman Mike Echevarria, and Connor Kenyon all missing time, Perry has looked to a couple of younger players to step up and perform. Rony Reyes has stepped up on the offensive line and has played a position fairly new to him pretty well. “Rony has done a real good job considering he hasn’t played too much varsity or even offense for that matter. He has stepped up and plugged in where we need him to,” stated head coach Matt Hardy. Junior Dakota Ocker has also stepped up and contributed on the offensive and defensive lines while Xavier Craddock has picked up more carries in the backfield. The Perry offense is coming off their best game of the season last week against Boone. Senior quarterback Kaleb Olejniczak threw for a career high four touchdowns in the 35-28 loss.
