A Greene County Middle School student faces charges following an alleged incident in a classroom Friday afternoon in Jefferson.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, an officer responded to the call of a violent student at the middle school around 1:45pm. The press release shows that when the officer arrived on scene, he learned a juvenile boy had destroyed a classroom, broke several cell phones and computer equipment, and assaulted a teacher. The juvenile was then taken to the Greene County Medical Center Emergency Room to be evaluated by a doctor. The teacher was also taken to the ER and treated for minor injuries.

A juvenile arrest warrant has been requested by the police department. The juvenile boy has been charged with a Class D Felony for second degree criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor for assault causing bodily injury and a simple misdemeanor for disorderly conduct/violent behavior. Once the warrant has been issued, the juvenile will meet with a Juvenile Court Officer.
