A group of veterans and supporters will be running through Stuart on a coast-to-coast journey today.

For its fifth consecutive year Team Red, White, and Blue (RWB) is hosting the Old Glory Relay, a 4,300-mile journey which began in Boston, Massachusetts on September 11th and takes the American flag across the country to San Diego, California by Veterans Day, November 11th. The group will be running on White Pole Road through Stuart at about noon, where they will be greeted with a sack lunch from the Stuart Chamber of Commerce at the Depot.

Stuart Chamber Director Brenda Dudley encourages residents to come out to greet the runners, “Well it’s just a nice thing for Stuart to be included in this, have them run through town so it would just be nice to support them and show Stuart pride, being out there and cheering them on.”

According to Team RWB, the Old Glory Relay is held to promote what the group does to enrich the lives of veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.
