There are four children in need of each available child care spot in Guthrie County, according to the Stuart Enterprise for Economic Development (SEED).

Those wanting to learn what is happening in Stuart area child care and discuss the needs of the community are invited to attend a meeting next week. SEED is hosting a child care needs meeting Tuesday. It is a follow up to a previous meeting that was held a couple years ago regarding possible expansion of child care services in the area. Partnerships 4 Families Area Director Cindy Duhrkopf, and Child Care Resource and Referral of Southwest Iowa Community Development Specialist Carol Jensen will be facilitating the discussion which will address a recent survey conducted by Midwest Partnership. The meeting will also include a discussion on development of additional slots for child care or after school programs for children, and if further expansion is needed for certain age groups.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stuart City Hall.
