Cross country runners from across the state will be converging on Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge today for the annual Iowa High School State Cross Country Championships. Several area runners will be taking the field today.

Our coverage begins at noon with the Class 3A races. A trio of Adel-Desoto-Minburn sophomores and a Perry freshman will compete today. ADM’s Hannah Welch will run for the Tigers while Jaylene Karolous will run for the Jayettes on the girls side. On the boys side classmates Ethan Jurgens and Nate Mueller will team up for the Tigers. Mueller, who medaled last year, is eyeing a state title this year.

The Panorama girls team highlights our coverage in 2A. The team, led by sophomore sensation Ella Waddle, was victorious in their home state qualifying meet last Thursday. The ACGC girls team, who claimed one of the final spots in the Class 1A field, will also compete today. Junior Kate Crawford is hoping to return to championship form today for the Chargers.

Our coverage wraps up with three individuals running in the final race of the day. The Class 1A boys race will feature ACGC seniors Noah Nelsen and Clay Billheimer, as well as West Central Valley junior Louden Foster.
