A pair of nonconference rivals will battle on the gridiron tonight in search of their first win of the 2018 high school football season. The West Central Valley Wildcats hit the road to Greenfield tonight for the nondistrict finale against the Nodaway Valley Wolverines. With the two schools separated by 22 miles, West Central Valley head football coach Eric Addy describes tonight’s matchup with Nodaway Valley as a gas station game. “One day (our guys) will walk into a gas station and you might see someone you played against in 2018,” Addy said, “You guys are both going to look at each other and you don’t have to say anything but you’re both going to give each other that look or nod. Both of you are going to (remember) what happened on that night in 2018.”

The last time West Central Valley and Nodaway Valley competed against one another on the gridiron was during the Wildcats’ winless 2015 season, falling 22-7 to the Wolverines in Greenfield. Someone will get their first victory of the 2018 campaign when Nodaway Valley hosts West Central Valley tonight. The varsity kickoff takes place around 7 p.m. from Greenfield.
