Adel-Desoto-Minburn sophomore quarterback Tate Stine-Smith seems to be taking positive steps with every varsity game he plays. The Harlan Cyclones defense dared Stine-Smith and the then-undefeated Tigers to beat them through the air in last Friday’s district opener in Adel. ADM lost 28-10 but saw a solid stat line from their second-year signal-caller. Stine-Smith posted career-bests in pass completions (16) and passing yards (226) in the setback versus Harlan. Harlan’s one interception against Stine-Smith turned into the Cyclones final touchdown in the fourth quarter, a 19-yard return from senior lineman Caleb Bieker. ADM first-year head football coach Garrison Carter praised Stine-Smith’s development during Friday’s Fuller’s Petroleum postgame show. “(This is) obviously, the toughest game (Stine-Smith’s) played in, and it’s probably not even close,” Carter said, “I thought he made some phenomenal plays, and he was a kid on the sideline pumping kids up and say ‘we’re fine, let’s keep rolling,’ and that takes a lot of maturity for a 15-year-old,”

Stine-Smith enters the week as ADM’s top passer with 724 yards and top rusher with 450 yards. He’s scored four total touchdowns, including three through the air. The ADM Tiger varsity football team resume their district schedule this Friday on the road against the Creston Panthers.
