Greene County meets Kuemper Catholic in Class 2A District 9 football on Friday night at newly refurbished Carroll Athletic Field. It’s the Homecoming game for the Knights (2-3, 1-0) who are coming off a 45-14 victory in Atlantic last Friday. The Rams are 5-0, 1-0, and Coach Mitch Moore’s team was an easy 62-0 winner over Shenandoah at Linduska Field in Jefferson last Friday.

Cole Collison, the quarterback of the Knights, had his best night throwing the ball when he hit Atlantic for 303 yards and three touchdowns on 13 of 24 passing with no interceptions. For the season, Collison is at a 39.3% completion rate (46-117-4) with six touchdown passes and 652 yards.

Brent Riley for the Rams has been pretty hot throwing the ball as well. For the season, he’s 68-127-5 for 1,080 yards and 15 touchdowns. Riley has found six different receivers for TDs in the first five games of the season.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association released its Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) through week 5. The Rams are fourth in 2A RPI at .6401. Greene County is one of just four unbeaten teams in 2A.
