The Perry Police Department is investigating an incident where a motorist fled the scene after crashing their vehicle into a tree in a residential neighborhood.

Officers say the wreck happened at around 6 p.m. Saturday, when an unknown female driver jumped the curb at the corner of 12th and Evelyn Street. Her Ford F250 then ran into a tree, bringing it to a stop. Witnesses then reported seeing the female get out of the still-running truck and run away on foot. There was some damage to the tree, but it stayed upright following the impact.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Perry Police Department. If anyone has information on the identity of the driver or her whereabouts, they are encouraged to call the Perry Police at 515-465-4636.
