A late night water main break at Perry Elementary is resulting in a bottled water advisory for students and staff today, which may last through tomorrow.

Superintendent Clark Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the water main issue has been fixed as of 2 a.m. this morning, but they still need to test the water before allowing it to be consumed. Because of that, people at the school are advised to only drink bottled water until the tests come back clean. To help with the situation, the Perry Hy-Vee, Fareway, and Shopko have donated bottles of water to the school. Wicks is thankful for the support provided by the local businesses to make sure the students have clean water to drink.

Wicks says the advisory will last at least through today and could continue into tomorrow, though he promises to let Raccoon Valley Radio know when it’s lifted.
