Seven days have passed since the Panorama Panthers varsity volleyball team has played a competitive match. The Panthers, undefeated in five West Central Activites Conference matches so far this fall, are idle tonight and won’t truly resume their competition season until the Southwest Valley Volleyball Invitational Saturday in Corning. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with Panorama first-year volleyball coach Jessica Nail on Monday’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page about the long layoff. Nail said she scheduled a varsity scrimmage this Thursday with the Glidden-Ralston Wildcats to help get the team back up to game speed. “We wanted to get the girls some more competitive action,” Nail said, “With homecoming week (last week) we had girls hit and miss (our practice time so) that was alright that we had that off time.”

Nail added regular practice resumed last night as the Panthers focused on improving defensive blocking and trying out different rotations of players. Panorama’s varsity volleyball scrimmage with Glidden-Ralston is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at Glidden-Ralston High School.
