Homecoming week hits its climax tonight at Panorama Community Schools with the varsity football game versus Central Decatur. The Panthers return to the field after suffering a 34-13 loss last Friday night on the road against the Interstate 35 Roadrunners. Panorama head football coach Mike Kauzlarich told the Raccoon Valley Radio Network on Monday’s Wahl McAtee Tire & Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page that he was pleased with the effort shown by his team against Interstate 35. “Looking back on it, you just felt like we were in that game and we probably shouldn’t have been for as bad as we were playing,” Kauzlarich said, “(However, it’s) a lot of stuff we’re able to correct so we’re excited to get onto this week.”

Panorama converted three of their 14 third-down conversions and committed three turnovers in last Friday’s setback.  The Cardinals are winless to start the 2018 campaign with all of their losses by 14 points or less. Kauzlarich sees Central Decatur as one of the best winless teams in the state. “(Central Decatur) had I-35 down at halftime and leading into the third and fourth quarter,” Kauzlarich said, “Then I think they just wore out. They don’t have a lot of numbers, which I think is going to be a factor in this game. ”

Kauzlarich pointed out junior Cole Pederson as an athlete to watch out for tonight for Central Decatur. Pederson verbally committed this summer to join the Iowa State Cyclones football team in the fall of 2020 as a linebacker prospect. Panorama hosts Central Decatur tonight in the Panthers’ annual football game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Panorama Stadium in Panora.
