DSCN9330The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met Wednesday in regular session.

The Board discussed additional plans for the 20th anniversary celebration for the Greene County Community Center. The event is planned for November 16th. JPRD Director Vicky Lautner said they are going to have a drawing for a free membership that day, along with an obstacle course and hosting beach volleyball. There will also be a meal served.

The Board then approved Tracey Deal to fill Heather Ruzicka’s term on the Board. Ruzicka resigned from the Board last month and her term ends next year. Lautner also mentioned that they will be hosting Java and Juice on Friday, October 19th.

The Board also discussed pool repairs. The floor of the pool had areas where it was pitted and the painted had splintered. Lautner said ACCO, the company who originally painted the pool, gave her three options before painting it again. The options were to sandblast, hand grind (a combination of the two), or install a PVC liner. Following the discussion, the Board felt that by installing a PVC liner-while the upfront cost would be the most expensive route, it also included a 15-year warranty-it could save money on maintenance and repairs over the long-term. The Board tabled their decision until final cost estimates were determined.
