Last fall, the Harlan Cyclones varsity football team rode recent graduate Nick Foss all the way to the UNI-Dome and the Class 3A semifinals. Foss rushed for 283 yards and six touchdowns against the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers last September in a 55-7 victory in Harlan. The Tigers and Cyclones renew their acquaintances on the football field tonight, and ADM’s defense is preparing for a different offense attack from Harlan. Cyclone senior Preston Mulligan is the only Class 3A quarterback with over 1,000 yards passing through the nondistrict season and posts a touchdown to interception ratio of 8:1. ADM head football coach Garrison Carter is impressed with the Cyclones signal caller. “(He’s a) really accurate passer; has 16 touchdown passes already through four games and has only thrown two interceptions,” Carter said, “He’s somebody we’re worried about, and he throws a really accurate ball.”

Mulligan has four receivers with at least eight receptions, and two touchdown catches entering tonight’s contest. Senior Elijah Boldan ranks fourth in Class 3A football with 380 receiving yards on 15 receptions, scoring five touchdowns. ADM’s defense has allowed 454 yards passing total through the nondistrict season, allowing two touchdowns through the air and along with making two interceptions. ADM looks to equal their 2012 start of 5-0 tonight when the Harlan Cyclones visit Adel to open the Class 3A District 9 season. Live play by play coverage on Raccoon Valley Radio’s True Country K 107.9 starts at 6:30 p.m. with the Veteran Powersports & Equipment Pregame Show and kick off around 7 p.m. from ADM Stadium.
