The saying all good things must come to an end came true Friday night for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity football team. The Tigers saw their season-opening winning streak halt at four games as the Harlan Cyclones handed ADM a 28-10 loss to begin the Class 3A District 9 season. The Tigers held a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter before allowing all 28 Harlan points during a 27-minute timeframe between the second and fourth quarters. ADM first-year head coach Garrison Carter stopped by the Fullers Petroleum Postgame Show Friday night and said he learned a lot about his team from the result. “First of all, we learned we belong on the field against a team like Harlan,” Carter said, “I also think we learned we have a lot of things to clean up before we want to win these (type of) games.”

Carter pointed to penalties and turnovers as areas the ADM football team needs to address this week in practice. He adds this is an exciting for his young football team. “We talk a lot about (responding) to adversity and mental toughness; how are you going to respond when you get knocked down?” Carter said, “This is the first time this team has been hit in the mouth really, and everybody’s been telling them how good they are, patting them on the back, and their in the Des Moines Register rankings. That’s freaking awesome, and I’m so happy for these kids but let’s see how they can respond and see if they can get off the mat.”

The Tigers embark on a two-game road trip starting this Friday when ADM visits the Creston Panthers.
