It’s the middle of the season for Fall sports and the Greene County teams are all in action. Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s volleyball team is at home twice this week in the middle school gym in Jefferson. The North Polk (Alleman) Comets visit on Tuesday and the Saydel (Des Moines) are here on Thursday. NP is 9-11 while Saydel has played very little this season and enters the week at 1-4. The Rams are 3-12 in matches.

Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s cross-country teams run Thursday in the Roland-Story Norsemen Invitational at Story City. More than 15 schools are expected to compete in middle school, JV, and varsity races for girls and boys. The Rams are coming off one of their better performances of the season for both the girls and boys at last Thursday’s Panorama Invitational at Lake Panorama.

Greene County’s top 10 ranked and undefeated football team opens class 2A District 9 action on Friday night in Jefferson at Linduska Field. Shenandoah (0-4) provides the opposition. Starting time for the rest of the season is 7 p.m. with coverage at 6 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
