The girls’ swimming and diving team from Boone placed fourth among seven teams on Saturday at Marshalltown’s Bobcat Invitational. Four Greene County High School students swim for Boone under an athletic sharing agreement. Coach Chris Mann said it was a tough meet in a tough part of the Boone schedule. “I challenged the girls to see how many season best times we could pick up and they did a pretty good job pushing through and getting some of those.”

The only top eight finishers from Greene County students came from Ellie Madson and Julia Saul. The two juniors made up half of Boone’s fourth place 400 yard freestyle relay.

Des Moines Lincoln won the team title with 335 points and Johnston was second with 299. Atlantic had 241 with Boone at 131, Indianola 120, Marshalltown 119, and 45 for Ottumwa.

The Toreadors host Des Moines Roosevelt tonight at 6 p.m. in Boone. It’s the first time swimming at home for Boone since Aug. 28.
