A do-it-all senior for the West Central Valley Wildcats football team is among the top scoring athletes in Class 1A football to this point. Cole Arnburg enters Class 1A District 8 play tomorrow against Mount Ayr as the group’s top scoring athlete with 62 points accounted for this fall. Arnburg’s production is the fourth most in Class 1A football entering week five play. Arnburg accounted for 32 total points in West Central Valley’s 62-12 week four victory over the Nodaway Valley Wolverines. West Central Valley head football coach Eric Addy said on Monday’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page that Arnburg put up the best numbers of his career last Friday against Nodaway Valley. “If you’re counting special teams, his punt returns and kick returns, he had to be close to pushing over 300 yards of all-purpose yards,” Addy said, ” Cole (Arnburg) had an awesome game, super proud of him.”

His 62 points scored this season breaks down like this. Forty-two of Arnburg’s points came off of seven passing touchdowns from senior quarterback Carson Wadle. Fourteen points have come on special teams including eight extra-point conversions and one punt return for a touchdown. His final six points scored this season came from a rushing touchdown. The West Central Valley Wildcats are hosting the Mount Ayr Raiders in their annual homecoming game tomorrow night. The varsity contest kicks off around 7 p.m. from West Central Valley High School in Stuart.
