Homecoming week isn’t a favorite time for a lot of high school football coaches because of all the outside community events taking away from the student’s preparation for the game Friday night. For Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers head football coach Garrison Carter, homecoming week is the reason he returned to coaching high school ball after a short stint as a college coordinator. “I think the little nuances of high school football in small-town Iowa are so special,” Carter said, “I think the epitome of that is homecoming week when you’re going to have people on their five, 10, 20 year class reunions back (in town) and this is the only time they’re ever going to see these kids play.”

That mindset was passed down to Carter from his head football coach Jim Knott during his high school playing days at Centerville. Tonight the 3-0 ADM Tigers host Raccoon River Conference member Boone in their final nondistrict contest. The Toreadors, like the Tigers, are under the direction of a new head coach in Thomas McGuire. Boone’s won the previous two games after opening the season with a 34-15 loss versus undefeated Ballard. Carter tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Boone shows a lot of similarities to their week one opponent Bondurant-Farrar. “As far as talent-wise, I think this will be the most talented team we’ve seen,” Carter said, “Under a new coach, very similar to us. A new program that took a little stumble week one but against a really good Ballard team.”

ADM will look for their first 4-0 start to a season since 2012 when the Boone Toreadors visit Adel for the Tigers annual homecoming game. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have live play by play coverage of the game on True Country K 107.9, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and on the KKRF mobile app. The Veteran Powersports & Equipment Pregame Show starts our broadcast at 7 p.m. and kickoff set for around 7:30 p.m. from ADM Stadium in Adel.
