acgcThe ACGC volleyball team went back to the drawing board Wednesday after a tough loss at West Central Activities Conference leading Des Moines Christian. The Lions swept the Chargers in three sets: 25-15, 25-12, and 25-18.

The Charger girls showed resiliency after cutting an eleven point deficit to four in the late stages of the first set. Though the gold and black couldn’t contain DMC junior Megan Riddle, who led all players with 13 kills and three aces. Senior Baker McCall and sophomore Alyson Dexter also chipped in eight kills each for the Lions.

ACGC freshman Chloe Largent led all Chargers with seven kills despite being sidelined momentarily after taking a ball to the head. The Chargers couldn’t find momentum in the match, something head coach Trevor Irwin says is critical to ACGC’s success on the court. “That’s what our biggest key is in practice that we’re really trying to focus in on is just that momentum swinging. Then really getting that ball through. Moving, moving, move fast.”

ACGC will try to bounce back tomorrow as they host the Madrid Tigers in a WCAC matchup. The Chargers are 3-0 all time against the Tigers, have dropped only one set in the first two seasons. First serve is set for 7pm from the ACGC high school gymnasium in Guthrie Center.
