acgcThe ACGC cross country teams competed in a full field at the Panorama Invitational Thursday. For the Chargers, everything came up 3s. The top two Charger runners for both the girls and the boys, as well as both teams, finished in 3rd.

On the girls side Junior Kate Crawford finished behind Tri-Center sophomore Peyton Pogge and Panorama sophomore Ella Waddle, crossing the finish line at 20:25. Charger senior Lauryn Embleton also netted her second top-ten performance of the season, coming in 7th with a time of 22:33. Rylee Sloss, whose 2017 season came to an end last year at the Panorama Invite due to a broken leg, rounded out the top 20 with a time of 24:09. The girls accumulated 99 total points, finishing behind Panorama and Earlham with 53 and 90 respectively.

On the boys side, senior Noah Nelsen finished behind Madrid senior Sean McDermott and Nodaway Valley junior Joshua Baudler, coming across the line at 17:25. ACGC senior Clay Billheimer was the only other Charger to eclipse the top 20, finishing in 13th with a time of 18:20. Madrid won the team title with an impressive 31 points. Defending Class 1A State Champion Nodaway Valley came in 2nd with 86, while the Chargers finished in 3rd with 149.

Sixteen teams in total were scored for the girls with 20 getting a tally for the boys. Both squads will head back to Guthrie Center this Thursday for the ACGC Invitational.
