wind turbine constructionIf you have driven on Highway 30 through Greene County, you might have noticed a change.

The amount of oversized vehicles are no longer traveling along the roadways. That’s because all of the wind turbine parts for MidAmerican Energy’s Beaver Creek Wind Project Phase II have been delivered. The project includes 85 additional turbines located in the northeastern portion of the county, after building 41 turbines last year as part of the first phase for the utility company.

The original delivery route was changed due to the oversized semis carrying the turbine parts not being able to navigate the tight turns. As of Thursday, August 9th, all foundations for the 85 turbines have been completed, 74-percent of the towers have been erected, 83-percent of the cable has been installed and 35-percent of the mechanical portion has been completed.

The target is to have all turbines erected by this fall and operational by the end of the year.
