Two Fridays from today is the return of Iowa High School football and one incoming senior excited to return to the field is West Central Valley’s Cole Sackett. Despite West Central Valley missing the playoffs in 2018, Sackett ended the 2017 season with a state-leading 128.5 total tackles. His stats broke down into 81 solo tackles, 47.5 assisted tackles, 12 solo tackles for loss, and five sacks. The Raccoon Valley Radio caught up with Sackett at West Central Valley’s midnight practice Monday morning. He says he’s always had a knack for knowing where the football is on defense. “I’ve been playing linebacker since I (first) put football pads on in the third grade,” Sackett said, “I have a love for the game, and I go out there, put my heart into it, and give it my best.”

T minus 14 days until the start of the high school football season for Sackett and the West Central Valley Wildcats. The squad opens their new campaign August 24, traveling to Urbandale for a nondistrict game against the Des Moines Christian Lions.
