The Friday night arrest of a Perry man wrapped up a search and investigation conducted for over a year.

According to a statement from the Perry Police Department, 25-year-old David Hung Le was wanted on an outstanding probation violation, stemming from a 2016 possession of methamphetamine conviction. Police attempted to locate Le at a residence in Perry in March of this year, executing a search warrant. While they didn’t find the suspect on that occasion, they did find evidence that led to multiple other warrants issued for him. The department continued to investigate leads into Le’s wearabouts up until Friday, August 10th, at around 9 p.m. They arrived at a residence in the 2500 block of 1st Street in Perry, where he was reportedly hiding. The residents of the home were cooperative and admitted that Le was hiding in the attic. Officers were able to convince Le to exit the residence and surrender, and the confrontation ended peacefully.

He was booked on several charges, in addition to the original probation violation, including: two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a class C felony and class D felony; failure to affix a drug stamp, a class D felony; unlawful possession of prescription drugs, an aggravated misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Le was transported to the Dallas County Jail, where he is currently being held. He had his initial appearance in court on Saturday, and will have a preliminary hearing on August, 17th.

The Perry Police Department was aided in the investigation by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Perry Crime Stoppers organization. The department offered their thanks to all citizens who provided information and assisted with the case. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
