There are a number of players with extensive varsity experience on the 2018 Greene County High School football team. Senior Bryce Hoyle is one of those. A three year starter, he expects to play in the line on both sides of the ball this season. He was asked about the additional responsibility he has as a team leader and a senior. “There’s a lot more pressure on your shoulders from the younger kids by leading by example. You always want to be there for them, but you also have to have the mentality to criticize them, and do it in a respectful manner where they don’t feel hurt, but they feel helped.”

Hoyle sums up the realization that his final high school football season is here. “You realize that this is it, and you want everything that’s best for the team and you’re willing to put yourself on the line.”

The Rams host North Polk (Alleman) tomorrow night in the annual Sports Drink Scrimmage at 7 p.m. in Jefferson at Linduska Field. Admission is a sports drink. The regular season begins on Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Perry at Dewey Field as the Rams and Blue Jays play in the annual Battle for the Cowbell.
