As first reported last week on Raccoon Valley Radio, Perry varsity girls basketball coach Chris Morrow announced his resignation effective immediately. Morrow told KDLS Sports that he simply needed a break from coaching and was looking forward to stepping back and re energizing before getting back into the coaching game. Morrow is looking forward to some unique opportunities to watch some of the players he’s coached in the past play at division one venues across the country.
“Over the last two years, I’ve had ten plus girls get offered the opportunity to play college basketball. In fact, five of those players will be playing division one basketball at various locations. I will have former players playing in Omaha, Minnesota, Kansas City and Texas Tech. I’ve been thinking about how nice it will be to sit back and travel a little bit and watch these players succeed and enjoy the game again. I say sitting back sounds good now but if the right opportunity comes up, it will be hard for me to say no since I’ve been coaching for so long.”
Morrow will continue to watch a lot of basketball and continue to observe other coaches as another opportunity will certainly present itself.
“I love watching other coaches and seeing what is successful for them. I take a lot of notes and pay attention to different coaching styles and strategies. I plan on doing that during this time of transition.”
The search for a new Perry girls coach is underway.
