Dewey Field Renovation

Construction on the Dewey Field renovation project for the Perry School District is coming up against its original deadline, and while much is ready to go, there are still things to work on before it’s ready.

Superintendent Clark Wicks says crews are working diligently every day, and all the important aspects of the complex should be ready to go on time. “It’s coming down to the close. Our goal was to have everything all ready to go by the 24th, which is the first home football game. Like any construction project, there’s going to be a few things to tidy up. But there’s a few things going on, a lot of brick laying, a lot of concrete, and clean up. So it’s an exciting time, but yet it’s a push to the end.”

At the most recent Perry School Board meeting, Mike Murphy with Larson Engineering gave an update on the project. He says there are a handful of things that likely won’t be done before August 24th, including placing the blue jay sculpture created by John Brommel, as well as the lighting for it, and the signage around the entrance, including the lettering on the entryway. However, the bleachers, press box, concession stand, ticket booth, and the rest of the entryway will be ready to go.
