Even though wrestling season is still months away, don’t expect Perry head coach Mark Weber to lay low during these quiet late summer months. Weber will be helping on the football sidelines this fall for the third straight year and he expects his wrestling athletes to be active as well.
“I want my wrestlers to stay active all twelve months. I want them working hard all 12 months. It doesn’t matter if its football, baseball, soccer or whatever the sport is, I want them staying active in the sport of season and not sitting on the couch and sleeping in until noon each day.”
Weber has expectations when it comes to weight room time and the training athletes should be doing when they’re not in season.
“I want them in the weight room training all year round. I like the football model which is three days a week right now and that follows my pattern since I am helping out with the freshman squad. Kids need to be training to get faster, stronger and more athletic.”
Fall practices start August 6th in Perry.
