Marc-Ray-300x298 Misty Ray

There hasn’t been a lot of news recently regarding the trials of Marc and Misty Ray, but that changes today as there will be a hearing on the defense’s request for a change of venue.

At 1:30 p.m., Judge Terry Rickers will be hearing arguments on the location motion, as well as a few other pending issues. Rickers says while there may be one pending topic that could require a closed hearing, everything else will be open to the media and public. The Rays are being tried on charges stemming from the death of their adopted daughter, Sabrina Ray, on May 12, 2017. Sabrina was found dead in the Ray’s home, having suffered from severe malnutrition. Defense attorneys for Marc and Misty have requested the change of venue due to the extensive media coverage of the case, which they feel won’t give the pair an impartial jury.

Justin Ray, Marc and Misty’s biological son, and Carla Bousman, Misty’s mother, have already been sentenced to 10 and 20 years in prison, respectively, for their involvement in Sabrina’s death. A fifth defendant, Misty’s niece Josie Bousman, has agreed to testify against the couple, so her trial will be held following theirs. Be sure to listen to Raccoon Valley Radio today following the hearing to learn if the change of venue request is granted.
