Another critical position open on this year’s Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity volleyball team is the squad’s top defender. Outgoing senior Jordan Hook led the Tigers in digs all four seasons of high school, posting a school-record 437 during her sophomore season in 2015. Hook recorded 399 digs as the Tigers’ libero last fall, helping ADM to a 23-12 overall record. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with ADM head volleyball coach Mary Beth Scott before the start of preseason practice in late July. She had an idea of who she’d like as the Tigers starting libero in 2018. “We have Abbie Hlas; she played right side defense for us last year,” Scott said, “I’m planning on having her slide over to be libero (this fall).”

Hlas, a three-sport varsity athlete for the Tigers last school year as a sophomore, ranked third on last year’s squad with 138 digs. She also started varsity on the Tigers basketball and softball squads as well. The 2018 season for ADM volleyball serves six days from today; the Tigers will compete in the Dallas Center-Grimes Fillies Varsity volleyball tournament next Tuesday in Grimes.
