Last November marked the first time in 11 years the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys cross country team qualified for the Iowa State Cross Country meet in Fort Dodge. As another fall sports season begins next week, the Iowa Association of Track Coaches recognized the Tigers for last year’s success by ranking the squad and multiple individuals in their preseason Class 3A poll. The IATC tabbed ADM as their 14th ranked squad in Class 3A team poll. Incoming sophomores Nate Mueller and Ethan Jurgens also begin their second varsity cross country seasons rated among the top 30 runners in Class 3A.

Mueller, an all-state runner for ADM last November, enters the fall as the fifth best runner in Class 3A. Mueller won the Raccoon River Conference and the Atlantic State Qualifying meet last year as a freshman and his first varsity cross country season ended with an 11th place finish in the Class 3A State meet in Fort Dodge. Jurgen enters the newest season as Class 3A’s No. 14 runner. He crossed the finish line in 33rd place overall in last November’s state race. The 2017 ADM Cross Country team placed 14th out of 15 teams in the Class 3A State Cross Country race with 282 points. The 2018 competition season for the ADM boys and girls cross country teams begins next Saturday, September 1, taking part in the Urbandale Cross Country Invitational.
