greenfieldGreenfield Municipal Utilities (GMU) has downgraded the Bottled Water Advisory to a Boil Order.

GMU customers are asked not to consume any water until boiling. This includes: drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation. While the level of microcystins are below reportable levels, high turbidity can interfere with disinfection and provide a medium for microbial growth.

It may also indicate the presence of disease causing organisms, which can cause symptoms including: nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and headaches. People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly may be at an increased risk. Water is safe for pets and livestock at this time.

GMU estimates the advisory will be lifted before the weekend barring any unexpected circumstances. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
