greenfieldGreenfield Municipal Utilities (GMU) provided an update Wednesday regarding the current Bottled Water Advisory. The advisory is still in effect at this time, however the latest test results show improving conditions in the local water supply.

The results from Tuesday’s tests show that all samples were less than the reporting limit for microcystin. The water currently in GMU’s system is free from toxins and safe for pet and livestock consumption, but may still contain high levels of turbidity.

Currently GMU has begun draining their ground storage facility and then officials will flush the entire water system per Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) regulations. The advisory remains in effect until the system has been completely flushed and officials have confirmed that turbidity readings are below DNR allowable limits.

GMU estimates the advisory will be lifted before the weekend barring any unexpected circumstances. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
