Greene County ended its 2018 high school baseball season with a 14-12 final record after losing in five innings by the 10-run rule to Glenwood on Friday, 17-6, in Class 3A District 16 first round action. John Hupp completed his first season as head coach of the Rams, and Sean Ostendorf and Matt Paulsen also completed their first seasons as high school assistant coaches.

The winning season was the second in a row, and the third in the last four seasons for the Greene County program. Under then head coach Mark Sawhill, the 2017 Rams were 14-13, and Sawhill’s 2015 team went 19-11 and finished tied for second place in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.

The 2018 Rams had seven seniors on it four of whom were starters, including pitcher/third baseman Ben Wilkins, catcher Tom Gannon, center fielder Jordan Patterson, and first baseman/pitcher Wade Adcock.

Returning starters include two juniors in pitcher/right fielder Bryce Hoyle and pitcher/third baseman Austin Delp, plus sophomores Brent Riley (P/2B), Nick Breon (SS), Carter Morton (LF), and designated hitter Tyler Teeples.
