acgcAll this week on Raccoon Valley Radio we’ve been wrapping up summer sports by looking at ACGC statistical notables. We continue with ACGC pitching comparisons for the baseball team. While the Chargers ended up with one fewer victory this season, they actually improved some areas of their pitching.

Most notably the Chargers improved their ERA by nearly a whole point between 2017 (7.39) and 2018 (6.60). ACGC also dramatically increased their strikeout count from year one to year two, going from 87 in 2017 to 133 in 2018. Their opposing batting average also dropped from .225 in 2017 to .205 in 2018. They did however allow 13 additional runs, 14 extra walks, and 15 more hit batters this season.

Individually, outgoing senior Caden Wardyn and incoming junior Bryce Littler both finished with two wins for the gold and black this season. That matches individual performances by outgoing senior Quenton Spack and Jacob Joliet last season. Wardyn easily set the mark to beat in strikeouts, tossing out 45 this season, 25 more than Joliet’s team leading 20 in 2017. He also walks away with the records for most innings pitched (51 ⅔) and most starts (11) over the last two seasons.

We’ll wrap up the week with some individual notables from each team tomorrow and Saturday.
