Perry varsity girls basketball coach Chris Morrow turned in his resignation effective immediately Tuesday.

Perry varsity girls basketball coach Chris Morrow turned in his resignation Tuesday morning effective immediately after serving as the Jayettes coach for one calendar year. Morrow was hired late in the summer last year after long time coach Mike Long decided not to return to the court.
“I’ve been coaching for a long time as this would have been my 12th season,” stated Morrow. “All I’ve ever done is coach and as a result, I haven’t given myself a lot of time and have pushed my family to the back. I want that to change. I came to a point this summer where I felt I needed a break from coaching, not just at Perry but also at Pure Prep.”
Morrow has been the successful director of basketball at Pure Prep Basketball Academy near Des Moines. He will be stepping down from that position as well.
“It just seemed like the natural time to slow down, reenergize and refocus. I want to see what my plans are moving forward but I definitely know I want to return to coaching some day. In fact, I’m looking at different opportunities but just can’t comment quite yet. It’s simply one of those deals where a coach needs a quick break to refocus and that’s how I reached my decision.”
Perry will begin the search for a new basketball coach immediately.
