Park Street in Perry

For the last couple months, Perry residents have been excited about the work being done to widen Park Street. Recently, the project got a lot closer to completion.

Local contractor Harland Concrete finished their part of the construction, adding three feet of pavement, curb, and gutter to either side of the street starting at West 3rd Street. All that’s left now is to grind off the original Park Street curb and fill the space inbetween the new curb with three inches of asphalt. The overlay phase will be competed by InRoads Paving, the same contractor hired by the Dallas County Secondary Roads Department. The Perry City Council recently approved a contract with InRoads at the same unit price they gave the County, for a total cost of $29,940. They also approved the final acceptance and certificate of completion for Harland Concrete, as well as a pay request of $63,122.75.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says the project has been a long time coming, and he’s thankful to the County for helping to jumpstart the progress. “(We’re) really excited about that project, it’s really one of those roads that we’ve needed to do something with for a number of years. I mean, it’s an old road, and you just don’t see any roads that narrow or with those kinds of curbs on them. So (we’re) definitely happy to get that project done, and again great contractors working on that project.”

The project is expected to be fully complete by August 31st, weather-permitting.
