Greene County played Roland-Story (Story City) three times in softball this season and the Rams went 0-3. As the postseason has played out, the Norsemen are no ordinary team as they’ve qualified for the Class 3A State Tournament title game. Number nine R-S won its semifinal Thursday afternoon by shutting out number two Albia 4-0. Next up is top ranked Assumption of Davenport for the 3A crown. R-S won the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference title and their last three wins are over teams ranked ahead of them. The 3A title game north of Ft. Dodge at Rogers Sports Complex is set for 3:30 p.m. Friday. Greene County lost to the Norsemen this season by scores of 5-3, 7-4, and 8-0.

Two-thirds of a former Heart of Iowa program is also in a State championship game. Collins-Maxwell/Baxter played in the HOIAC just one year ago, but C-M and Baxter are now separate and the C-M team will be playing for the 1A State title at 6 o’clock tonight vs. AGWSR (Ackley).
