A heat advisory continues and potential for additional rainfall is anticipated to happen Thursday into Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties until 8pm today. Temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid-90s, with heat indexes reaching as high as 105-degrees. The National Weather Service recommends those doing outdoor activities to take frequent breaks in shady areas and drink lots of fluids. They also suggest wearing cool, loose-fitting clothing if you’re going to be outside.

The National Weather Service also has the majority of our primary coverage area in a slight risk for excessive rainfall tonight through Friday. The predicted rainfall amount could be between one to two-inches of rainfall, which may cause some areas of flash flooding locally.

Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team goes into effect anytime there’s severe weather in Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties. We provide live coverage of each severe weather incident and give road condition updates as well as cancellation and postponement information.
