Greene County CourthouseThe Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

Following a public hearing, the Board approved three resolutions for three bids to dispose of county properties. The Board approved Landus Cooperative’s request to accept ownership of a parcel of land on Main Street in Scranton at no cost and free of liens and taxes. The Board also approved Terry Hefling’s bid of $221 for a neighboring property at 104 West Main Street in Grand Junction. The final bid was from David Forkner for $100 for a property on Stanton Street in Scranton.

The Board re-appointed Sandra Miner to the Region XII Council of Government Regional Housing Authority for October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019, three applications for the disabled veterans homestead tax credit program, and the County Treasurer’s investment report of $5,320,546 for June as well as issuing 257 driver’s licenses last month.

During open forum, County Environmental Health Administrator Chuck Wenthold told the Board that MidAmerican Energy had 25 wind turbines set and about 60-percent of cable had been installed on the Beaver Creek Wind Turbine second phase project. The Board also agreed, in open forum, to allow the Greene County Courthouse to be open until 6:30pm on Monday, July 23rd for when the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) makes its overnight stop in Jefferson.
