Greene County School Board 7_18The Greene County School Board met Wednesday in regular session.

The Board approved a $23,750 lease agreement with the Jefferson Fieldhouse. The agreement is to allow all of the sports programs to utilize the facility for the 2018-19 school year. The Board also approved the questionnaire for the school board members, as well as the teachers, students and community members for the new 360-degree Superintendent Evaluation Program.

Additionally the Board approved Anderson Erickson as the diary supplier and Bimbo Bakery as the bakery supplier for the 2018-19 school year. They also approved all handbooks for the 2018-19 school year, a sharing agreement with Prairie Valley School District to offer construction and nursing classes, a 28E agreement for Project Early Bird with Iowa Central Community College and a resolution to sell general obligation bonds not to exceed $16.5 million.

The Board approved their goals for the 2019 fiscal year. The goals included: continuing to assess the district’s facilities, increase interaction and communication between the board and students, staff and administrators, implement the District Career Guidance Plan, achieve a $1 million unspent balance spending authority in four years and create an environment that encourages student enrollment and attracts and/or retains quality staff.

The Board then tabled its decision on bag searches at activity events until further research was completed. Finally, the meeting ended in a closed session to evaluate Superintendent Tim Christensen.
