A big event is happening Thursday morning in Perry, as the new speculative building at the Industrial Park will be unveiled to the public.

Perry Economic Development, Incorporated (PEDI) is hosting the event, and Governor Kim Reynolds and Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg will be on hand for the occasion. The 30,000-square-foot, expandable facility has been in the works since early May of this year, and now it’s ready to be revealed to the community. PEDI Representative Terry Nielsen says it will be an exciting event for the whole City, as it heralds new growth possibilities. He adds, there was initial risk when the spec building was proposed, but he believes it won’t be long before they find a company to occupy the space.

“We’ve had a little bit of interest from a couple prospects. How this works is, you put this out to a number of different companies and what we call site selection guilds. And once they know that this is a Certified Site, (they can) start the process of something tangible. It’s real, there’s pictures, they can visit on-site and meet with our City leaders and our Economic Development groups. And we’re excited that we’re going to hopefully have a business here in the next six months.”

The unveiling event will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. with a meet and greet, followed by a presentation at 10:15. In addition to Reynolds and Gregg, Iowa Economic Development Authority Director Debi Durham, Greater Dallas County Development Alliance Executive Director Linda Wunsch, and other strategic partners and Perry City officials will be part of the event. The Perry Industrial Park is currently occupied by Percival Scientific, ITC Midwest, and Hy-Line International.
