Porter spinning platesGreene County children and families enjoyed several free performances earlier this week provided by the Greene County Libraries Association and the Greene County Board of Supervisors.

Comedian Dennis Porter performed at all six county libraries over a two-day period on Monday and Tuesday, while presenting two different shows. Monday’s shows were called “The Jester Tells All” where Porter says one of his characters in the show is Cornelius the Jester who is the 12-times great-grandfather of his other character Cornelius the Clown, and he tells jokes and does tricks. Tuesday’s shows had a circus feel to them with the title of “Under the Big Top” which included juggling, tightrope walking, crowd dancing and adult participation with playing bells to the tune of “When the Clowns Go Marching In.”Porter with the Ding-A-Lings

Porter says with his background in theater and being a professional clown for 26-years, he is fortunate to be able to travel around doing shows like the ones he did in Greene County for kids.

“That’s my blessing is that I get to do this for a living is go around and make people laugh and smile. And maybe forget about the world, good or bad for a little while, and just have some fun. We’ll sneak in some little life lessons now and then for the kids at times, but just have a good time and enjoy life.”

This was the second such set of free entertainment this summer made possible by the Greene County Libraries Association and the Greene County Board of Supervisors.
