Greene County and Glenwood play each other at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Winterset in the opening round of Class 3A District 16 high school baseball. The winner moves on to the District 16 title game on Monday in Winterset at 7 p.m., while the losing team will see its season come to an end.

Both teams are nicknamed Rams. Greene County’s Rams are coached by John Hupp, and the coach was asked about Glenwood. “They’re always a pretty good team. Record-wise, they’re done a little bit this year, as are a number of teams in our district, but that district’s loaded with good programs, so we know they’re going to be a tough team to play. We have to go out and play a clean ballgame with our ace on the mound, and see how we do.”

Greene County is 14-11 while Glenwood is 10-19. Glenwood’s Rams have had eight games against Class 4A programs while the Rams have played no games against teams in Class 4A.

Coverage on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starts Friday at 4:30 p.m. with first pitch at 5 p.m. Friday’s winner meets either Winterset or Creston in the district title game Monday.
